At Suzuka, lap consistency is the whole race
Laps of the Suzuka Circuit International Racing Course — the 5.807 km figure-eight famous from Formula 1 — ridden counterclockwise, the opposite direction to motorsport. This is a timed circuit enduro, not a point-to-point course: solo riders or relay teams accumulate as many laps as possible in 4 or 8 hours, or ride the fixed 40-lap Attack 240 (232.28 km). Pacing a 4- or 8-hour circuit effort: the lap's rhythm — descending S-curves, the Degner complex, the hairpin, and the rising drag to the line — repeats every 5.807 km, and lap consistency is the whole game.
For the rider aiming to complete Suzuka 8 Hours Enduro strongly on seven to eleven hours a week, this twelve-week plan builds lap consistency, circuit handling, repeatable power, fueling, and relay or solo execution for repeatable power and technical precision lap after lap.
INSIDE THE FINISHER PLAN — 7–11 HR/WK
Includes zone-tailored structured rides for your devices, built-in strength with video walkthroughs, heat-training protocols for racing in the hot stuff, peloton skills workouts, and nutrition and hydration guidance.

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
