Florida is flat enough that wind, position, and wasted effort decide the day
GFNY Florida's 7th edition (October 25, 2026) is the first held fully in Hardee County, at the Hardee County Agri Civic Center in Wauchula. GFNY's own announcement gives two things worth holding side by side: it markets the 2026 route as 'a brand-new course' with a 'redesigned route,' while its own quoted reasoning is that Hardee County 'has been an outstanding partner since 2021' and 'the majority of the racecourse has taken place in Hardee County in recent years' — a geographic continuity, not a from-scratch build. The exposed, wind-affected flat farmland terrain of Hardee County.
For the rider bringing eight focused weeks and seven to eleven hours a week, this plan concentrates the work most likely to matter at GFNY Florida Hardee: wind-aware bunch speed, positioning, repeatable accelerations, and flat-course durability.

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
