Closed Joburg roads, fast groups, and 1,398 metres of constant work
947 Ride Joburg starts and finishes at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on November 22, 2026. The organizer's timed 97 km road race gains 1,398 metres while crossing the M1, Nelson Mandela Bridge, and Johannesburg's rolling high-altitude streets on fully closed roads.
For the rider with eight weeks and four to six hours a week, this plan uses compact sustained work, rolling-road intervals, and focused endurance to prepare for the M1, the altitude, and the late return to Kyalami.

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
