Thirty climbs, including the steepest in the Netherlands.
Amstel Gold Race Toerversie crosses South Limburg's steep, short hills in relentless succession — the Keutenberg's brutal pitch, the repeated Cauberg, and dozens more, none longer than two kilometers but savage in gradient. Surfaces are entirely paved; the demand is repeated explosive climbing and recovery between efforts, not sustained altitude — though rain can sharpen the short descents between climbs.
For the rider with eight focused weeks and seven to eleven hours a week, this plan concentrates on explosive climbing power for the Keutenberg and repeated Cauberg ascents, and the pacing discipline to hold form across dozens of short, steep Limburg hills.

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
