Three passes, then ninety depleted miles
LoToJa runs from a Utah college town across three states and three mountain passes packed into the opening 110 miles, then keeps going across depleted flat miles all the way to the Tetons. Surfaces are mixed pavement — state highways, US routes, and county roads ranging from smooth to rougher rural stretches; the demand is durability across a full day in the saddle, not any single climb.
For the rider with only six weeks left and five to nine hours a week, this rescue plan keeps the work most likely to matter on LoToJa's three-state course: durable all-day fitness for the opening 110 miles of passes and the long depleted miles that follow, recovery, and pacing. It makes purposeful use of current fitness without claiming to replace lost months.

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
