Plan Description
This comprehensive 20-week Tour de Vineyards training plan will prepare you to conquer the flats, rolling hills and extra climb (if you choose the 58-mile option). This plan is for the rider who can train approximately 6-8 hours a week. It includes a structured build and taper phase with emphasis on increasing your FTP, improving your durability, and maximizing your endurance. All the event specific intensities are built into this plan to have you primed and ready for a fun day and feeling strong as you roll out of Palisades for the Tour de Vineyards in September!
Use of a power meter and a heart rate monitor will be needed to effectively carry out this training plan.
This training plan includes long weekend rides so you will have to be able to ride between 4-4.5 hours over the two-day weekend.
FTP testing is included to ensure accurate training. After determining your FTP, please update your power zones.
These structured workouts can be performed outside or indoors on a variety of training platforms.
This plan is 20 weeks in duration and intended to begin 20 weeks (the week of May 4, 2025) from the start of the Tour de Vineyards on September 20, 2025.
