Plan Description
This power based program is aimed at intermediate level riders looking to perform at their maximum at the Amy's Grand Fondo. The program features power based sessions with a mixture of high intensity and volume based endurance training.
Having raced this course myself as a part of the premier National Road series, I have constructed the program around the specific requirements of the challenging course.
The program will initially start off by completing a 20 minute Functional Threshold Power (FTP) test to ensure training zones are set correctly.
From there you will be completing 2 - 3 sessions per week of efforts with base building endurance training in-between. At the 5th week mark there is a rest week, in order to let adaptations take place + prepare for the final 3 weeks of training.
One week out there is a mini race session aimed at replicating the course requirements. This will give you the final edge over the competition to ensure you are physically and mentally prepared for the challenge ahead.
