Plan Description

This plan should be done after the offseason training plan and before race season or when you aim for peak performance. Known as general preparation in the literature, the goal of base training is training to train to reach a higher baseline fitness. Training volume and volume of threshold specific work will increase throughout the plan. Strength training is adapted based on weekly cycling sessions. Therefore, this plan is suitable for most cycling disciplines including road, gravel, mtb or cyclocross.

The plan combines the findings of studies investigating the effects of periodization, intensity, and strength training on endurance performance. Carbohydrate guidelines will help you maximize performance for every session.
