8-Week Advanced Power Build
Develop threshold power, fatigue resistance, and repeatable high-intensity capacity through a demanding eight-week structured cycling block. This plan is for advanced cyclists with an established aerobic base and current FTP.
Who This Plan Is For
- Advanced cyclists who already tolerate consecutive training days
- Riders with a power meter and correctly set FTP zones
- Athletes able to train roughly 10 to 12 hours during loading weeks
- Cyclists seeking a concentrated build rather than a beginner base plan
Training Commitment
- Length: eight weeks
- Average cycling time: 9 hours 32 minutes per week
- Average frequency: six rides per week
- Longest scheduled ride: three hours
- Weeks 4 and 8 reduce volume to five hours
What the Plan Includes
- FTP/FRC microintervals and longer FTP efforts
- Over-under and Sweet Spot crisscross intervals
- Endurance rides with cadence drills and short high-power efforts
- Recovery rides between key sessions
- Testing used to review current power zones
Equipment and Compatibility
A power meter is required, and a compatible cycling computer or smart trainer is recommended. Cycling sessions include structured workouts that can sync with devices and applications supported by TrainingPeaks.
Confirm that your FTP and power zones are current before starting. This plan is not event-specific and does not prescribe time-trial positioning or race-day pacing.
Serious goals. Real lives. Structured training that respects both.
KyleCoaching helps masters and time-constrained cyclists build endurance, raise FTP, develop race-specific power, and stay durable without treating recovery, work, and family as rounding errors.
