Plan Description

This Transition Phase plan is designed for youth downhill riders aged 12–17 who are training 6–12 hours per week. Youth programs are adjusted for student-athletes who are beginning to approach cycling in a more structured manner.

The goal duuring the transition phaseis full recovery from the prior season while restoring movement quality, re-engaging with foundational riding skills, and refreshing motivation. Many young athletes neglect the importance of the finer details, all of which are built within this program to ensure safe, sustainable improvement.

Training is low pressure and fun-focused, with light aerobic activity like Zone2 rides, hikes, and casual trail sessions. Bodyweight circuits, mobility work, and flexibility exercises help restore movement and address imbalances without overloading the system. Strength training is purposefully simple, with a focus on world-class basics that are appropriate for new or less experienced lifters.
