Train for your gravel race with a structured 8 week plan built for riders with 8 to 10 hours a week. This is the complete preparation for a big day on mixed terrain, building the aerobic endurance, sustained climbing power, low cadence torque and hours long fuelling that carry you strongly to the finish over rough ground. Every ride is Zwift and indoor trainer compatible, with power targets in percent of FTP so it scales precisely to you.
WHO IT IS FOR. Amateur and enthusiast cyclists preparing for a gravel race, off road event or long mixed surface ride. If you can train eight to ten hours a week and want to arrive at the start line fit, fuelled and confident on any surface, this plan is built for you. Suitable for indoor or outdoor riders.
HOW IT PROGRESSES. Volume builds through a clear ladder around 9 hours, with a recovery week to absorb the work, then extends and peaks near 10 hours including a three and a half hour dress rehearsal, before a sharpening week and a race week taper. Day one is an FTP test and the final day is your race.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT. Genuinely gravel specific. Sustained tempo and threshold for long grinding climbs, low cadence torque for loose rough terrain, over unders and attack and hold surges for the constant changes of pace, and long undulating rides that grow toward event duration with full race fuelling practice. Every ride carries a distinct creative structure and a verified sports science citation.
WHAT TO EXPECT EACH WEEK. Tuesday and Thursday quality that never repeats, Wednesday undulating endurance, Friday recovery, a long mixed surface ride Saturday that grows toward race distance, and rolling endurance Sunday on tired legs to build durability. Weekly notes guide the theme, fuelling and recovery, and the plan finishes with a full race day game plan.
