Plan Description

Thanks for checking out one of my training plans! I'd love to start working with you.

Everesting, ascending 8,848m in a single ride, is a massive endurance undertaking. I have completed a virtual Everesting on Zwift (Alpe du Zwift) and this training plan focuses on preparing you for that particular challenge.

This plan certainly would do a reasonable job of preparing you for the demands of an Everesting on a different climb (inside or out), however, I think it is best to prepare as specifically as possible.

All the workouts in this plan will be indoors on Zwift. You can freely substitute outdoor equivalents, but the thought is to maximize time on the trainer (to dial it in) and achieve other Zwift challenges along the way. This plan has mostly structured workouts. While there is purposeful variety within the scheduled workouts, it may be enjoyable to occasionally substitute a freestyle workout or existing Zwift events (races/rides).

This plan is designed for the intermediate to advanced rider with solid endurance experience and is starting from a training status that includes regular and substantial endurance training (8-12hrs/week and routine rides around 3hrs in the last 6 months). The biggest week is 15 hours and the biggest ride is 5x on the Alpe du Zwift (5:30-7:00 hrs). The assumption for the plan is that completion is the primary goal, but that you are willing to push yourself to complete the challenge as quickly as possible.
