Thanks for checking out one of my training plans! I'd love to start working with you.
Everesting, ascending 8,848m in a single ride, is a massive endurance undertaking. I have completed a virtual Everesting on Zwift (Alpe du Zwift) and this training plan focuses on preparing you for that particular challenge.
This plan certainly would do a reasonable job of preparing you for the demands of an Everesting on a different climb (inside or out), however, I think it is best to prepare as specifically as possible.
All the workouts in this plan will be indoors in Zwift. You can freely substitute outdoor equivalents, but the thought is to maximize time on the trainer (to dial it in) and achieve other Zwift challenges along the way. This plan has most structured workouts. While there is purposeful variety within the scheduled workouts, it may be enjoyable to occasionally substitute a freestyle workout or existing Zwift events (races/rides).
This plan is designed for the beginner to intermediate rider who does not have extensive endurance experience or is starting from a training status that does NOT include regular and substantial endurance training (less than 8hrs/week and very few rides over 3hrs in the last 6 months). The biggest week is 12 hours and the biggest ride is 5x on the Alpe du Zwift (5:30-7:00 hrs).
