Serenissima Gravel is flat racing on the white roads of the Veneto — professionals and amateurs, same course, same October day.
The route is redrawn each year, but the character holds: narrow gravel sectors, flat farm roads in close quarters, outside support kept to a minimum, and no climbs to break the pace. This is an eight-week plan for those demands, built around four to six hours a week. It doesn’t pretend those hours are more than they are; it spends them on sustained flat riding, the strength that holds your position late in the day, and pacing steady enough to trust when the course never gives you a descent to recover on.

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
