Gravelista is 86 miles of rolling farm gravel out of Seymour, Victoria — about 5,700 feet of climbing, 82% unpaved, and the Wicket Hill climb, a kilometre averaging 11 percent, ridden twice.
The long course runs as two laps, and Victorian spring weather is genuinely variable — the 2025 edition ran in cold rain. This is a six-week plan. Six weeks isn’t enough to build endurance for an 86-mile day from scratch, but it’s enough to get your legs as ready as the time allows, settle your pacing for two laps and Wicket Hill twice, and get you to the start prepared for what the race is.

What six weeks can honestly give — a finish with something left.

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
