America's Queen of the Classics: 61 mixed-terrain miles
Battenkill returns to Cambridge, New York on Saturday, May 22, 2027. The current Full Battenkill is 61 miles across the paved and dirt farm roads of southern Washington County, with rolling terrain, punchy climbs, covered bridges, and frequent surface transitions.
This plan uses 7 to 11 hours a week with demanding sessions spaced to preserve recovery and consistency. The rider develops endurance, repeatable climbing strength, and mixed-surface control while easier days support adaptation.

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
