Gravel Brazil is 70 miles with about 5,800 feet of climbing through Brazilian coastal mountains, 90 percent of it on gravel, with technical descents on loose surfaces and late-summer March conditions that can reach 30°C.
This is a twelve-week plan for masters riders, with more recovery built in than you would have needed a decade ago, because you recover slower than you used to and arriving fit and uninjured is the harder half after fifty. Most of the work builds toward the repeated climbing and the loose, technical descents, while the March heat is the race’s demand to prepare for, not something a plan can hand you.

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
