Grinduro Germany is 62 miles with about 6,500 feet of climbing on a mix of gravel forest roads, technical singletrack, and paved connectors, run in an enduro format where the climbs are untimed and only the descents are timed. Temperatures stay cool, and with a chance of rain the Eifel forest can turn muddy.
This is a twelve-week plan built around the higher weekly hours that racing takes, not just riding the distance. The volume is higher and the descent work more specific, because a result in this format comes from the timed descents on technical singletrack while the untimed climbs still add to the day’s distance and climbing.
62 MI · 6,562 FT CLIMBING · 50% GRAVEL FOREST ROADS, 30% TECHNICAL SINGLETRACK · 12 WEEKS · 9–13 HR/WK · COMPETE

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
