Ride as far as you can in twenty four hours. This twelve week 24 hour time trial event plan builds the sustained sub threshold power, aero position endurance, durability and even pacing discipline that a full day in the saddle demands, on 9 to 12 hours a week, fully Zwift and indoor trainer compatible.
WHO IT IS FOR: Riders targeting a 24 hour time trial, a 12 or 24 hour solo or team distance record, a very long audax, or any ride where covering maximum distance in a fixed time is the goal. You should be comfortable riding three to four hours and ready to build toward six.
HOW IT PROGRESSES: A base block to establish your all day pace and aero position, a durability block of long back to back rides with tempo carried late, a peak block of five to six hour race pace rides, then a taper into your event. Recovery weeks fall at weeks four and eight, and a full six hour dress rehearsal lands in week ten.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT: Every ride is designed around the reality of a twenty four hour effort, holding a controlled sub threshold power for hours, defending it late when tired, and doing it in an aerodynamic position. It drills the even pacing that sets 24 hour records, trains your gut to fuel at 60 to 90g of carbohydrate per hour, and prepares you for night riding and brief planned stops. Every session carries a plain language explanation and one link to the sports science behind it.
WHAT TO EXPECT EACH WEEK: An FTP test on day one sets your zones. Then two to three focused rides plus a weekend long ride that grows from three hours to a six hour dress rehearsal, with recovery weeks to absorb the work. The plan finishes with a taper and an EVENT DAY game plan for your 24 hour ride. Start with a benchmark, finish ready to ride far.
