Ride a loaded bike all day and back it up tomorrow. This 8 week plan builds the sustainable all-day power, muscular endurance and low-cadence torque that self-supported bikepacking and multi-day adventures demand, on 7 to 8 hours a week.
WHO IT IS FOR: Riders planning a bikepacking trip, a multi-day tour or an adventure route on a loaded bike, who can train around 7 to 8 hours a week and want to arrive able to ride big days back to back. Zwift and indoor friendly throughout.
HOW IT PROGRESSES: Day one is an FTP test to calibrate your zones. From there you build loaded tempo and big-gear torque for climbing a heavy bike, undulating all-day endurance, and progressively bigger back-to-back weekends. Week four is recovery, week six is a full dress rehearsal on your real kit, and the final two weeks taper so you roll out fresh on day one of your trip.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT: This is built for the specific demands of a loaded bike over consecutive days, not racing. Low-cadence torque, sustained tempo on climbs with weight, back-to-back long rides on tired legs, comfort and contact-point care, and hours-long real-food fuelling. Every ride carries a plain-English coaching brief and a link to the sport science behind it.
WHAT TO EXPECT EACH WEEK: Around 7 to 8 hours across five or six rides, anchored by a Saturday long loaded ride and a Sunday second day on tired legs. Weekly notes set the theme, hours and focus, and flag the key sessions. The plan finishes on day one of your trip with a full game plan for pacing, fuelling and kit.
