Peak for the greatest ride in randonneuring with this 16 week indoor and Zwift friendly build that turns 9 to 12 hours a week into a genuine 1200km Paris-Brest-Paris engine, ready to ride to Brest and back inside 90 hours.
WHO IT IS FOR. Experienced randonneurs and long distance cyclists who have completed 200 to 600km qualifiers and are peaking for Paris-Brest-Paris or a similar 1200km ultra randonnee, training indoors on Zwift or a smart trainer, who want the biggest aerobic engine, multi day durability and a full sleep, fuelling and pacing strategy rather than race sharpness.
HOW IT PROGRESSES. A day one FTP test sets your zones, then base builds into a huge aerobic block, then multi day back to back weekends grow toward six hour rides, peaking with the biggest dress rehearsal weekend before a taper into the event. Recovery weeks at 4, 8 and 12 keep you fresh, and the plan finishes on the literal event day with Paris-Brest-Paris itself.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT. This is a true 1200km peak build, not a qualifier plan. It is built around back to back big weekends that simulate riding day two and three on tired legs, durability efforts late in long rides, riding at a very steady all day sub endurance pace, and extensive fuelling, night riding, saddle and contact point care, control point discipline and sleep strategy across three to four days. Every ride carries a six part coaching description and one verified sports science reference.
WHAT TO EXPECT EACH WEEK. Two to three quality and endurance sessions midweek plus a long weekend of a big ride backed up by a long day two, rising from three hours toward six as the plan peaks. Weekly notes summarise the focus, hours and key sessions. Fuelling targets climb toward 90 grams of carbohydrate per hour, and the final weeks rehearse the exact food, sleep and body care plan you will use on the event.
