Peak your climbing legs for a hilly or mountainous road race with a structured 8 week plan built for riders with 7 to 8 hours a week. This is the complete preparation for a race won on the climbs, building the sustained threshold climbing, the over threshold attacks, the VO2 punches to follow accelerations, and the deep durability that let you stay with the front group over every ascent and produce your best power on the decisive final climb.
WHO IT IS FOR. Road racers, sportive riders and climbers targeting an event where the selection happens uphill. You should be comfortable riding 7 to 8 hours a week and holding structured intervals. Every ride is Zwift and indoor trainer compatible, and all targets scale from the day one FTP test.
HOW IT PROGRESSES. Weeks one to three build sustained climbing threshold, over threshold attacks and VO2 climb punches. Week four recovers. Weeks five and six are your peak climbing block, culminating in a full three hour dress rehearsal of a climbing road race. Week seven sharpens, and week eight is a race week taper into your event on the final Sunday.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT. Every session is climbing specific and distinct, from broken threshold blocks and over unders to attack and hold climbs, ramped ascents and a four climb mountain simulation. Each ride carries a six part description and a link to the sport science behind it, and the long rides rehearse race fuelling of 60 to 90 grams of carbohydrate per hour.
WHAT TO EXPECT EACH WEEK. Monday full rest, midweek climbing quality and endurance, a long climbing simulation at the weekend, and honest FTP calibrated targets throughout. You will arrive at your event a stronger, more durable climber, ready to race the ascents to power and finish strong.
