This plan will help you prepare to compete in the Elephant Rock events. This plan is just right for any of the scheduled events if you goals are fun and completion. Achieve your event goal and have more fun doing it!
This is a beginner-friendly plan that can be repeated as time permits.
Not all days of the week have bike workouts. You can get creative with these days. A few good options are 1) cross-training (run, row, gym), 2) a steady endurance ride, or 3) an additional recovery day. While more training is "good", you need at least 1 weekly recovery day to stay strong and keep putting in good efforts on your training days.
To be ready for the longer events, you'll extend the long ride on the weekend to match your event. Estimate your event duration (more important than mileage) and build towards that in your training. It is NOT usually required that you complete the distance or full distance in training (but that can really boost your confidence). I find if you can complete 75% of the duration in training, you'll make it through the full event on race day!
