The longest stage in this year’s Tour took riders through 230 kilometers of hilly terrain, with a Category 4 climb and a couple sprint opportunities thrown in for good measure along the way from Fougéres to Chartres.
Today was a day for the sprinters, with Dylan Groenewegen (TLJ) winning the day after a final battle with second place finisher Fernando Gaviria (QST) and Peter Sagan close behind in third (BOH).
Dimension Data riders, including Jay Thomson, put in a strong effort in the closing kilometers to put their top sprinter, Mark Cavendish, in a good position for the final sprint and his eventual top-10 finish.
