It was another exciting day of racing with some near-finish line crashes, the latest one taking down yesterday’s winner, Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors), among others. The crash took place roughly 2km from the finish, and left Team Bora Hansgrohe with the advantage in both numbers and position, which they used to help teammate Peter Sagan crossed the line in first and securing his top position in the general points classification as well.

Dimension Data told us before the Tour that their goal for this year’s Tour would sit firmly within the early sprints of the race,  and they stayed true to their word. Riders like Thomson worked hard early on to put Cavendish in a good position heading into the day’s sprint at 50 kilometers into the race, which you can see by some of his extremely high power outputs early on.
