Stage 15 offered 181.5 km between Milliau and Carcassonne peppered with climbs and minimal rest. Crosswinds were a big factor in today’s race, along with obviously tired riders. While the day was full of quick breakaways, including by green jersey leader Peter Sagan and Daniel Martin (UAE), there was a sense of consistency and restraint within the peloton as a whole, resulting in no changes in the GC standings.

Astana’s Magnus Cort won the stage after an impressive attack in the final sprint, followed by Ion Izagirre (Bahrain) and Bauke Mollema (Trek). Team Sky led the peloton across the line and into a much-needed rest day.

Mathew Hayman worked hard to help teammate Daryl Impey conserve energy, while the back half of the day was more of a matter of staying with the main peloton. You can see his highest power of the day as he made his way up the Category 1 Pic de Nore at 140 kilometers into the race. Hayman, like all of the other remaining riders, will be focused now on a proper recovery before some truly challenging mountain stages on Tuesday and Wednesday.
