I’m Evan Birch, a Canadian ultra runner, coach, father, and mental health advocate. I coach runners from 5 km to 500 km with a human-first approach where training supports your life, not consumes it. I focus on consistency, sustainability, and joy. As a certified ultra coach and Oxygen Advantage instructor, I help athletes build confidence, presence, and resilience through the process.
Running has been part of my life since childhood and has grown into a powerful tool for connection, growth, and presence. After a twenty-year career in emergency services, I turned to the trails initially to escape the noise. I found a new direction and opportunity to rebuild. I discovered a deeper purpose in the process. Much of that journey has been shared with Nova, my 8-year-old Vizsla and running partner, whose companionship inspired the documentary “SuperNova: The 100 Mile Dog,” which was featured at the 2025 Kendal Mountain Film Festival.
My endurance experience includes The Speed Project Solo (464km), multi-day and 200-mile races, Backyard Ultras, Canadian Death Race, and multiple finishes at Divide 200. These miles have shaped my belief that running is less about outcomes and more about understanding yourself on a deep level.
As a UESCA Certified Ultra Running Coach and Oxygen Advantage Breathwork Instructor, I help athletes approach running as a sustainable practice rooted in consistency and curiosity. I coach humans, not data, focusing on stacking weeks, building resilience, and finding joy in the pursuit. I support runners from 5 km to multi-day events, including those who run with their dogs, and I integrate breathwork to improve presence and performance.
My mission is to guide athletes toward confidence, self-trust, and meaningful growth, giving them the tools to realize potential they may have never seen in themselves.
