Cycling coach and exercise physiologist based in Utrecht, Netherlands. I coach road, gravel and track riders, from motivated amateurs to elite. Your training zones come from measured lactate thresholds — not a percentage of your FTP — so you know what a session actually does. Every plan is built around your week and your physiology, never copied from another rider. MSc Human Movement Sciences (VU Amsterdam) and MSc Cell & Molecular Biology (NTNU Trondheim). Coaching in Dutch and English.
I studied Human Movement Sciences at VU Amsterdam, specialising in exercise physiology, and completed a master's in Cell and Molecular Biology at NTNU in Trondheim, researching how muscle and mitochondria adapt to training. That combination — laboratory and road — is what goes into your plan.
I race at national level myself and have ridden internationally, including in Cameroon and Malaysia. I know what it takes to hold a structured plan together alongside work, study and the rest of life.
How I work. I think with you, not at you. A plan that worked for another rider is not automatically your plan: your hours, your recovery and your physiology are different, and the plan follows those. When your week changes, the plan changes. And on the days your body says something different from your schedule, your body wins.
I start by measuring. A lactate test gives your actual first and second threshold, and your zones are anchored to those instead of to a percentage of FTP. That way you know what a session is physiologically doing — and a retest tells you whether you have genuinely improved, rather than just ridden harder.
I work in Intervals.icu and TrainingPeaks. Alongside my own practice I coach at Cyclinglab, a science-led cycling platform in the Netherlands.
