I have experience coaching athletes of all levels. From beginner youths to draft-legal collegiate athletes to age group long course athletes. I enjoy working with any athlete toward their goals and enjoy the challenge of having variety among my athletes. I am particularly interested in working with junior triathletes or highschool single-sport athletes who may be interested in pursuing triathlon collegiately as well as collegiate triathletes in their off-season.
Like many, my triathlon career started on a borrowed touring bike and a death grip on the breaks. As a seasoned swimmer who had dabbled in cross country, a coach of mine suggested I try out this triathlon thing. I loved it and ended up competing at the collegiate club level for the University of Connecticut where I served as the team's Vice President. As my undergraduate career progressed I found myself spending less time training for triathlons and more time running the triathlon team. A sacrifice made willingly as I have found that the only thing more exciting than my own successes on the racecourse is contributing to the success of others.
My coaching philosophy is based on a quote by the Indian author, Amit Ray, who states that "Collaboration has no hierarchy. The sun collaborates with soil to bring flowers on the earth.". Each athlete brings a unique background and knowledge to the coaching relationship. As a coach, I know a lot but so do you! I believe in finding the path to success, together.
