Running, Personal Training
As an elite-ranked ultra runner with a background in personal training, I love seeing and helping people get excited about trail-running. I have worked with all ranges of athletes, from those trying a new distance to well-experienced runners preparing for races such as UTMB or Western States. Matching an achievable training load to each individual's goals and life demands is key to keeping each athlete healthy, focused, and continuing to progress in their athletic endeavors.
My love is for trail running and I especially enjoy helping people to see that with consistent work they can achieve their goals. I was a busy mother of four young children when I first started running, and put my background as a personal trainer to use in learning how to make the most of my limited training time. My motto for myself was "train smarter, not longer" and I still think that being realistic about the amount of time each athlete has to devote to training is crucial in being successful.
I have enjoyed coaching many different ranges of athletes, from serving as an Assistant Coach to high school distance runners, helping those looking to achieve state records, marathoners going for a Boston Qualifier, and of course, ultra-runners in all distances and types of races.
As an athlete, I have raced many East Coast races and set numerous course records and several ultra-distance Fastest Known Times.
I am RRCA certified as a distance running coach, a Training Peaks Coach, and I also hold a Level I Certification in Sports Nutrition. After working as a busy personal trainer, I am an advocate of utilizing the benefits of strength training to assist in the development of a strong, overall runner and believe it leads to being able to enjoy a longer athletic lifestyle.
