Arrowtown , New Zealand
I'm Tess, and I am currently living and coaching in Arrowtown, New Zealand. I coach clients in the U.S. and New Zealand, and coach a wide range of ages and abilities.
I have a nutrition, swim and strength background, but have been coaching Triathlon since 2013. I like to take a holistic approach with people I coach, and ensure that they are treated as the full human they are. I am passionate about making and maintaining a strong connection with each person I coach.
I grew up as a competitive swimmer and swam through my years at University. I had a successful career as a swimmer, and wanted to continue competing in sport. I turned to triathlon after graduating from Emory University in 2009, and casually began participating in local races.
While working as a swim coach for a youth swim team, I got certified in personal training, and then transitioned to working as a personal trainer full-time. After 2 years of working in a gym, I decided to go back to school for Nutrition and moved to Colorado to complete a 2-year Holistic Nutrition program.
While living in Colorado, I began coaching for the Colorado State Triathlon team, and my focus shifted to triathlon.
In 2018 I moved to New Zealand, and shortly after began coaching for the Canterbury Triathlon Academy. This squad is for junior athletes aged 14-22 who have big dreams of working towards the Olympic pathway. My role in this squad shifted from coach to director in October of 2020 as I moved away from Christchurch and wasn't able to conduct in-person coaching daily. I am still coaching clients in the US, and plan to continue growing my business both in NZ and in the US.
