Summation Athletics offers training for a variety of activities based on the fundamental principles of exercise physiology. We specialize in mountain athletics including rock-climbing, trail running, mountaineering, big-game hunting, and alpine climbing.
Scott Ferguson (co-founder and coach) holds a Ph.D. in physiology, an M.S. in exercise science, and is an internationally recognized researcher in the field of high-altitude medicine, oxygen transport, and exercise physiology. Scott has authored or co-authored over 35 peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters and has been invited to speak about his work on skeletal muscle metabolic control throughout the world. His close collaboration with top physiologists including Professors Andrew Jones (consultant for Nike's "Breaking-2" endeavor) and David Poole (known for re-shaping our understanding of oxygen transport and muscular energetics) have provided him with a solid foundation from which to guide your training.
George Cedric Bieker (co-founder, coach, and athlete) holds a B.S. in Recreation and Sports Management, an M.Ed. in Education and is a full-time AMGA certified guide and instructor. As a professional guide for the American Alpine Institute, George continuously provides practical real-time feedback on training methodology for the mountain athlete. These programs have allowed George to maintain a high level of fitness in multiple modalities simultaneously. Throughout 2018 George was able to guide on the West Buttress of Denali, climb 5.12+, M9, WI5, V8 and be able to crush multiple Grade V routes on back to back days in the alpine.
