When my son started school I thought running a marathon was the best way to get fit and slim. I joined a charity training program. I found that I enjoyed the training but never lost the pounds that I imagined.
After many marathons, triathlons, and century bike rides and even an Ironman, I was still fat. At the time, I was following the typical low fat and high carbohydrate program that is recommended to most endurance athletes.
I became obsessed to figure our how my body worked to look, feel and perform better. I took courses and certifications with many organizations including the C.H.E.K. Institute. The C.H.E.K. Institute and Ben Greenfield’s message was quite a bit different from the USDA advice. I switched to a Paleo Diet, then a ketogenic / keto Paleo Diet.
My body started to heal. I no longer had chronic gas and my previous blemished face cleared up. Over time my allergies went away and then my asthma disappeared. I went from a size 16 to a size 12 with the Paleo diet. I dropped from a size 12 – a size 6 adopting a keto paleo diet.
As a high carbohydrate athlete, I was spending $80 a month on asthma medications. I am not on any medications now. I am 49 years old and in the best shape of my life.
I am sharing what I have learned to help other’s like me look, feel, and perform at their best.
