I coach riders who want to progress, are willing to work hard and try new things. There are no 'secret sauce' lessons to be learned - becoming a stronger and better bike rider is all common sense stuff, applicable to pro and amateur alike and there are no shortcuts. I will not BS my riders and expect them to be honest with me.

I completed my qualifications through the British Cycling coaching system over several years and learned the practical side of things through working closely with ex-professional riders who have competed and coached at the highest levels in the sport and through hands-on selection, management and coaching of National level road and track racers. My experiences in sport and life combined with this two pronged learning approach in cycling informs my coaching philosophy which is all about understanding the athlete and finding out together what works best for them.

I studied heart rate and power training with British Cycling and Joe Friel, who I met 2005 & 2016, and have subsequently applied it in practice with my riders through Training Peaks and WK05. As a BC Team Manager I have travelled throughout Europe with National squads managing and coaching riders at stage races and successfully managed the defence of a leader's jersey against a quality International field abroad.
