Only coaching because I believe that the pursuit of sport is a way to transcend the superficiality of life. It makes us better people in its best form. This means competing by the rules where winning is a by product of right training and ultimately right living. I can hardly believe I am writing this having bicycle raced at the national level in the 1990's. But sometimes the greatness that lies in all of us comes out when we push ourselves to new goals physically.
Began bike racing at age 13 in 1989. Rode in Nationals that year finishing 13th in the road race. Competed five more times including in 1996 where I finished 6th at the amateur national road race in Hocking Hills, OH. The next year I rode on the US Cycling Road Team which was a painful experience... I've learned what I don't believe is right in coaching from that. I've race since then for fun and coached amateur athletes. But found a new home for my own personal exercise in triathlon. I have completed three half iron distance triathlons and someday will save enough money to do a full.
