I am a sassy menopausal athlete in my 50s, I like to approach training as a holistic journey to improve ability as an athlete.
Aside from the required endurance coaching certifications, I have studied with interest over the last five years how ladies in menopause should approach training.
I have studied with interest the Dr Stacy Sims Menopause for Athletes course and Women Are Not Small Men course and how female athletes in menopause should approach their training.
I like to combine my training programmes for women with a consideration towards improving their lifestyle and self-worth. Many women lose that as their bodies change. As I have discovered over the last 7 years, training with menopause will help you discover things that you were possibly never told. I have learned that training is not all about losing weight and being fitter, but the improvement of performance, relationships (especially with your changing body), lifestyle choices, mental balance and general well-being.
The outcomes can be extraordinary if you dedicate a little time to yourself. I have learned that at this age I need to take more care of myself, apply certain methods to my training and most of all, seek proper recovery, relaxation and nutrition. I hope that my own experience and training will assist you to find endurance training and general conditioning less of a chore, less arduous, more fun and beneficial.
