My name is Matthew Butt. I am a British Cycling Level 3 Coach and qualified Personal Trainer. I also hold British Cycling Level 2 accreditation in road, track, and BMX, TrainingPeaks Level 2, Cytech 3, and certifications in coaching blind and partially sighted athletes, mental health awareness, UKAD clean sport, first aid, and Safe Wheel procedures.

My coaching has taken me from local circuits to national events, supporting riders who have progressed to Commonwealth Games and Paralympic levels. These experiences shaped my understanding of athlete development and the demands of high-performance cycling.

After time away from competition, I returned to racing to reconnect with the athlete perspective, manage fatigue, refine preparation, and test performance in real conditions. This balance of coaching and racing guides how I plan and adapt training for others.

At Saddle Up Cycling, I combine data analysis, physiological testing, and structured planning with on-bike skill development. I deliver one-to-one sessions, group workshops, gym and S&C programmes, and coaching camps. My approach is evidence-based, adaptable, and athlete-centred, aligning each plan with individual goals, data, and context.
