I am an Irish-based endurance running coach with personal experience in nearly all disciplines and terrains and with the particular specialty of turning runners of modest talent into contenders.
My philosophy is to apply history's most successful methods each individual's specific situation. My training is designed to allow you to understand your own abilities better and to become increasingly independent, intuitive and confident in your training and racing.
I entered the sport of running through mountain running and swiftly progressed through almost all branches of the sport - both as a competitors, coach, administrator, journalist and race director. This provides me with nearly 360 view of anything running related.
I possessed very limited talents when I entered the sport and so sought the advice of the most successful coaches - dead or alive (through books or in person) - using particularly the philosophies of Arthur Lydiard and Percy Cerutty as my base.
I have coached hundreds of runners for thousands of hours. My favourite example is Jason Kehoe, who started as a mid-pack runner with me in 2008 but went on to win several mountain running races and two Irish championships in the decade we worked together exemplifying what can be achieved with a good coach/athlete partnership.
