I am a physician (MD) and a master of Exercise Science and Coaching (M.Sc.).
Although I should have known better, I was in a similar situation myself: for 5 years I trained like a maniac to compulsively qualify for the Ironman in Hawaii.
I worked more against myself than with myself. In the long term, everything was suffering in my life due to my training regime. I was bad in my job, having no time for my family and also my health was deteriorating. I needed to walk 30k of the marathon on Hawaii instead of flying to age group victory.
However, this need not be.
After applying my new holistic method I I perform well in my job. I am there for my family. I am healthy and have a lot of energy in my daily life. Furthermore I became the first amateur in Ironman Hamburg in 8:57, qualified three times for Hawaii, and stayed sub 9h in the 2018 edition. My athletes set world amateur records (8:12 and 8:19h in the Ironman), and many pro podiums while working holistically.
