I'm Rich Smith, I established RideFast Coaching in 2015. My goal was then, and remains, to provide passionate enthusiasts with physiologically effective and psychologically sustainable training to achieve resilient fitness improvements alongside well-being. I specialise in sports psychology and mindset development.
My aim as a coach is to help you achieve your goals, aims and ambitions as a rider irrespective of age, status or sex.
I choose not to coach professional riders.
I am a British Cycling Level 3 Road & Time Trial coach & Level 2 Track coach based in the UK. I have a First Class (Hons) degree and an MSc (Distinction) in Psychology. I'm interested in & care about the people I coach.
I have completed the UKSCA Foundation course in Strength & Conditioning and the British Cycling 'Understanding Power' workshop. I coach both male and female riders locally, nationally and internationally.
I have been involved in British Cycling's Regional and National schools of racing helping some of the very best young riders realise their potential. I have led structured training camps in Mallorca since 2009.
I have coached the Great Britain Transplant Cycling Team since 2009 and I have competed internationally with them.
In my time as a competitor I have won club, county, national and world titles. I have represented Great Britain at the World Transplant Games on 10 occasions between 1999 and 2019. In that period I have 7 world road race titles and 8 world time trial titles including the fastest recorded 5km in World Transplant Games history set in Nancy, France in 2003. I added a team time trial gold medal in Newcastle, UK in 2019.
That being said, I've lost a lot more bike races than I've won!
