I believe that the most effective training is the one that keeps you consistent, engaged with the sessions, and excited about the process. I base my programming on scientific principles while keeping individuality of each athlete in mind. My training plans incorporate sport specific programming, cross-training modalities, resistance training, race preparation and execution, and nutritional and psychological advice.
I founded KAPE in 2019 with a mission to help more athletes find happiness in the process of training for a goal, whether that goal be race or adventure oriented. I am UESCA certified running and ultrarunning coach with 5 years of coaching experience. I coach running (trail and road), obstacle course racing, ski mountaineering, and multi-sport athletes. I enjoy working with every level of an athlete; from beginners to professionals.
My early education is in science: I studied Astrophysics, Physcis (B.S.) and Material Science and Engineering (M.E.), but I realized working in people and in sport is what brings me more happiness so I took the skills I learned and I applied it to coaching. A lifelong athlete myself, I also have personal experience in what it takes to build yourself athletically from scratch to professional levels. I have competed on the highest level in trail running, obstacle course racing, XTERRA, adventure racing, and ski mountaineering.
I believe the core of every training plan has to be based on scientific principles and include sport specific training, resistance training, and cross training modalities if the athlete enjoys more than one sport. Beyond that, every training plan is different to fit each athlete and their needs; both physiological and psychological, and demands of their life outside sport. There is more than one way to arrive at the same performance level, and I strive to find the one that keeps those I coach engaged and happy.
