2017 Welsh Triathlon Participation Coach of the Year
Based in Swansea, South Wales. Currently I still take part in triathlon & Openwater swimming events, I am in the SuperVet cat, having over 15 years experience in triathlon.
I specialise in Openwater swimming having completed many of the UK swim challenges over the years. 2017 completed the 26km Lake Zurich Swim, and currently training for a 70km swim (yes you read that correctly).
First I believe that the sport of triathlon and openwater swimming is for everyone, and to date have never turned anyone away, I will find a way and develop the individual.
I have been triathlon coaching for around 6 years (with coaching other water based sports prior from Surf Life Saving to Canoeing), 2017 I was awarded Welsh Triathlon Participation Coach of the Year for the work I do, the coaching includes a wide range from TriStars / Youth to Novice & Ironman and all in between. Also finialist in Swansea Council Coaching Awards 2019.
As part of my coaching I am currently Carmarthenshire Council FAST (Fitness and Stroke Technique) Coach, providing swimming coaching at two venues in the county, which is home to many events. Additionally as part of this role I provide support to numerous coaches / school teachers around triathlon.
Personal I still take part in events of all kinds, from endurance swim and runs to spending time in the hills and along the varied british coastline.
I am part of the Brithish Triatlon Coach Education Team and a Coach Mentor. Professionally I am a Specialist Paramedic where I Tutor for the National Ambulance Service of my country, who I have worked for over 28 years, so I have loyality as one of my strong points.
Also have an interest in Canicross with a small number of athletes taking part in events with the human owners.
