Wendy is USA Cycling Level 3 coach specializing in paracycling. A handcyclist herself, she understands the unique needs of para-athletes. She believes that everyone has the potential to reach great heights and works in partnership with her athletes to unlock that potential.
Wendy's journey into the world of handcycling began in 2017 after a physical therapist suggested it as a way to stay fit. From the moment she first sat in a handcycle, she knew it would be life changing.
In 2021 and 2022, Wendy Larsen secured consecutive handcycling victories at the Boston Marathon, setting course records both years. Her wins weren't confined to Boston, as she also claimed the top spot in the New York City Marathon in 2022, following that up with a win and course record at the Houston Marathon in 2023. In 2024, she once again won the Houston Marathon.
Breaking barriers, Wendy Larsen made history as the first solo female handcyclist to conquer the demanding, non-stop 925 mile Race Across the West in 2023, further establishing herself as a pioneer in adaptive sports. Her journey showcased not only her athletic abilities but also her mental strength, determination, and commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible. The pinnacle of Wendy's career however, came in 2023 when she earned the title of 24-Hour Time Trial World Champion, setting a course record for female handcyclists.
Beyond her achievements on the road, her coaching philosophy centers on the coach-athlete relationship, focusing on the whole athlete and persevering through adversity, motivating her athletes to reach new heights. Her athletes regularly set PR's, win races, and cross finish lines they once thought impossible. Let Wendy help you unlock your potential!
