The first key to my philosophy on coaching is the importance of trust within the athlete/coach relationship. There's no hiding within the sport of running. It's relentless and honest, but nothing worth achieving comes easily. You have to have as much patience as you do passion to be successful. My job is turning that passion into results and this is where trust comes in. Coaches are able to look at the bigger picture, something athletes themselves typically have trouble with. It's never about the success of a single workout. Rather how successfully an athlete can string together workouts week after week. That's what creates fitness. A delicate balance between stress and recovery that results in adaption.
