I love triathlon and everything that it stands for – enjoyment, progression and passion! I started triathlon in 2001 with a novice race on a rusty bike. Since that day triathlon has been my passion, firstly as a participant (winning National and age group World Championships) and now as a full time coach working with all levels of ability. My aim is to get the best out of each athlete while making the programs I create for them achievable, realistic and of course fun - that's why we all do it!
After winning my second age group World Championship Gold medal in 2013 I knew I wanted to finish my racing days on a high and focus on coaching. I knew it was time as I was more interested in helping others than my own sessions towards the end of my training days and I have not looked back since. I get more from coaching and seeing others achieving their goals than I did when racing! I have been fortunate enough to have worked with some great people from complete beginners to professionals. I have helped guide people to their first events as well as recently in 2016 coaching two athletes to age group world champion status.
I am the head coach for a training camp and race tour company (check out challengetricamp.co.uk) so get to meet hundreds of triathletes every year at all levels and experiences which not only inspires me but also helps me to develop as a coach – no triathlete is the same so working with so many different ones opens your eyes to how different tactics and approaches work for different people!
As well as coaching on the training camp I offer coaching on a one to one basis and online (remote coaching) working closely with the athlete to make sure they have a bespoke program. These programs although I plan them are a joint effort between me and the athlete and my job is to ensure it works for them, is realistic but also achievable and fun.
