Next Horizon Endurance — The Start Line, The Finish Line, and Everything Between

At Next Horizon Endurance, we don't measure success solely by finish times — it's measured in how you arrive at both ends of the race. Our mission is simple to say and hard-won to deliver: get runners to the start line healthy, and to the finish line healthy and strong.

I'm Mark Alcock, founder of Next Horizon Endurance, a UESCA-certified endurance running coach and a TrainingPeaks Level 1 Certified Coach. I've been running since 2006 and ran my first marathon in 2008. Since then I've raced on both road and trail, most recently at the Twin Cities Marathon.

For most of that time I trained around a demanding corporate career, and more recently around raising two young kids as well. I know what it takes to fit training into a full life, and that experience shapes every plan I write. I've since stepped away from the corporate world to give coaching the time and focus it deserves.

Next Horizon Endurance has a simple mission: get runners to the start line healthy, and to the finish line healthy and strong. Every plan is built on the same principles. Most of your running is easy, volume builds gradually, step-back weeks come every three to four weeks, and strength work is capped at twice a week so it supports your running rather than competing with it. Most plans also come in hilly and flat or treadmill versions, so they fit where you actually train.

Whether you're recovering from your last marathon, building a base, or lining up for your first 50K, there's always a next horizon, and I'd love to help you reach it.
