I am a lifelong athlete; multi sport as a youth (track/cross-country, tennis, soccer, basketball) and played D1 soccer in college. Post soccer I transition to pure running and finished my first marathon at age 22 before stepping away to pursue a PhD in Planetary Science. I took up trail running when I moved to CO and very quickly decided an Ironman looked like fun!
Spending all day doing something you love in the mountains is my passion (and if my dogs can join- even better!). Do what you love and it will rarely ever be "work".
My coaching philosophy encompasses that passion and the scientific approach that is integral in my life. There is no "one plan solution" and I work with the athlete to identify barriers to performance. We integrate training into their lives while looking to improve their foundations (recovery/nutrition/strength/mobility). I use a range of metrics/data as well as perceived effort depending on the athlete and focus. I am in the relationship for the long haul and encourage athletes to have a short, mid, and long term focus/goal.
Cordillera is a common term in geology; " system or group of parallel mountain ranges together with the intervening plateaus and other features, especially in the Andes or the Rockies." While many coaches use the symbology of a mountain- we're traversing the entire range over the course of our athletic careers (if we are lucky).
