I am a Colombian endurance sports junkie. I've been doing sports since I can remember. My passion for endurance sports has taken me to wonderful places and i've met wonderful people on the way. I've completed 100km ultra marathons, 6x IRONMAN, 20X 70.3, including both ironman and 70.3 world championships, 3x everesting, and have won my AG in several races. All this experience combined with my exercise science background has given me the possibility to coach athletes for more than 4 years.
I studied Exercise and sports science at DEAKIN university in Australia, and this has given me a great foundation of knowledge in everything related to sports performance, I majored in Strength and conditioning as I believe it's a fundamental pillar of every endurance sport.
I am also a certified teacher of competitive swimming and a BRONZE level coach for swimming Australia, and I worked as a coach for competitive junior state and national level squads for 3 years. I also worked with masters and triathlon swimming squads, giving me a vast range of experience with different swimming levels and aims.
My training approach is highly individual and I believe the only way a coach-athlete relationship works is through effective communication. My plans are one-on-one and it's the only thing I offer. I use a polarised training method as research has shown to provide some of the best benefits when compared to other approaches such as high volume, threshold or HIIT type plans. Proper periodisation methods are also used depending on the athletes goals and objectives.
Training plans will be set using the ATP on training peaks and workouts will be analysed through WKO5, giving me a deeper look into the athletes training and how he is reacting to the loads and intensity distribution.
Nutrition is also a key component for endurance performance and I also offer nutrition advice such as macronutrient distribution for endurance athletes, during racing and recovery.
