Max is a former pro cyclist and current Masters cyclist who enjoys coaching athletes of all ages and levels.
He specializes in climbing and building strength on and off the bike.
Max offers pre-built training plans for the Gravel, XC/ST/Enduro mountain bike, and Cyclocross racer. He also offers personal consultations over Zoom and custom-built training plans.
Max was a professional cyclist from 1991-2001 and is currently a masters racer coaching cyclists of all ages. He is the head coach for the Southern Oregon University cycling team, leads mountain bike camps for juniors, and gives public presentations on training and racing techniques. He also teaches Middle School math in Ashland, Oregon.
Max competed on the National and World Cup mountain bike circuits and qualified for the 1996 USA Olympic Trials. He also worked with Jamis Bicycles as a factory racer and product developer with over 10 years of experience. Max earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Diego in 1991, where he competed for the NCAA D1 Toreros cross country team.
