Coach Matteo here!

There are a lot of things I love, and I believe in having a balance between training, racing, and life. This is something I practice as much as I preach, but don't be fooled, having balance requires discipline.

Outside of triathlon I run my own business, Moxie Lighting. I believe in giving, my team, Team Ginger Strong, raises money for rare cancer every year. I love to Ski, snow and water, spend time with my family and friends, and am always up for an adventure!


I don't believe there is a one size fits all approach for coaching and so determining what is right for each athlete I work with is a comprehensive process and one that evolves over time as our relationship grows. Goals are very important and we start by crafting a plan to accomplish each individuals goals, but we adapt and evolve as we move forward. Goals can change and that is great. There is no goal to small or to big to try for!

I got involved in endurance sport in 2015 when I road a bicycle 5,000 miles self supported across the United States. This challenge began a journey into learning how much stronger both mentally and physically I was than I could have ever imagined. But this didn't happen overnight and it was never always marked by positive improvement. Through the last 3 years I've had my own ups and downs with training and have immersed myself in studying what makes for that healthy balance. All that knowledge I've now taken into coaching and I couldn't find that more rewarding as I coach my athletes toward their own goals.

I love to get to know the people I coach, it's an intimate process and one the requires trust.

I'm a former division 1 athlete in Golf and Ski Racing.
I'm a finisher of RAAM (Race across America)
I'm a two time Ironman.
I'm a 50 mile Ultra Marathon finisher (R2R2R)
I'm a 70.3 Ironman World Championship qualifier and finisher
3rd place 30-34 premier NYC triathlon 2018.

I don't always require a positive attitude, life doesn't work that way, but commitment plays a big a role to success. Athlete's must be willing to communicate and be open about how things are going.
